1980 KZ750 won't shift into neutral.. Can't was created by greasechick557
So after the bike sitting for a few weeks I finally got to thwork that needed to be done. I have new back shocks, front and rear sprocket, and chain (converted from 630 to 530). Everything went back together. Bike starts and runs now just fine but I cannot get the bike to shift into neutral. I have tried shifting into neutral while running bike, while not running, with back tire off and on the ground. I am not sure why this would happen. With the back tire off the ground and it running it will shift from 1st to 2nd. But still no neutral. Any idea's. Please help.
P.S. there was a special request of a pic of me on my bike. sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs2...1047247_330145_n.jpg [/img]

Did you change out/play with any of the clutch linkage while you were in there?
Maybe the sprocket cover is not seated properly, and binding against the shifter shaft.
GL.

The sprocket case is definitely seated correctly. Nothing seems to be pinched or anything. I double check this. The clutch will engage and disengage. I just can't get it to shift into neutral. Not sure why.

I know as my 750 twin has gotten older, it has gotten crankier about going into neutral. Sometimes it takes me a few tries. Try holding the clutch in a popping the throttle lightly a few times and tap up to see if it will find neutral. So I got it. Took a few tries like you said. Thanks for all the help. I did get the lowered shocks on it and it is so nice to be able to have my feet solid on the ground. It makes a huge confidence issue. Now onto inspection and it can be out on the street. Rode it on my driveway today. The new chain makes a huge difference. Thanks again. Safe riding to everyone.
Love,
Stephanie
