Two part question: Exhaust Flanges and Clutches was created by Kidkawie
My Z1 is in need of some new exhaust flanges...rust. Is my only option OEM or aftermarket OEM or is there an alternative like a solid aluminum unit?
Also, after my Z sits a while the clutch seems to stick when I initially put it into gear. It basically lurches forward and stalls. After it "breaks free" it seems to work fine. Do the baskets/hubs in these bikes notch like an MX bike? The clutch lever feel is a bit stiff too.
Thanks.

Shop around. I havn't seen radically different ones, but you never know.
The cluch plates should be removed, cleaned, then checked for thickness and warpage. If there is any warpage, it will be exagerated when hot, and cause the symptoms you speak of.

If you get the newer style (alum) flanges from Z1E make sure you order the thicker exhaust gaskets.
I use the newer flanges and I have to double up on the gaskets.
Rob showed me the thicker gaskets while I was in Ohio. Roy

Thanks.
I'll plan on taking the clutch apart. The baskets are pretty reliable though? I mean, they don't wear out fast?
