Quick question. Does the P model engine after 1981 have the K-model, J-model or some other cams? (I did a search-in fact a few-and this does not search well...or the question hasn't been asked.

I sure can't imagine the 82 P1 being any different spec than the 81 J1 as the engines seem the same to me but I could be wrong. Since Kaw never puts cam specs in the shop manuals, you would have to actually do some measuring on both models to be sure. I haven't heard this question come up before.

Somewhere I saw measurements for both K and J models. It seems to me that the j was slighlty higher lift. I wish I could remember where I saw it! (I have been told memory is the second thing to go...)

P model has the same cams as the K,M,1100A,D,ect. they have 2 stripes on the tachdrive boss

they are milder than the J,Gpz
the 81-82J has no stripes on the intake and one stripe on the ex.
the 81 Gpz uses J cams, the 82 Gpz has 3 stripes

I don't know about the 83-84 Gpz
