They are very easily affected by side draft and other phenomenon that makes for lean conditions.

Uh, explain please. I don't believe the Emgo filters will last as long as the K&Ns - not even sure if the cheapies can be cleaned & reused. It doesn't really matter to me, though, since I prefer the stock airbox..... Also K&N's are indefinately cleanable and guaranteed. Emgo's cost $37 for 4- k&n's about $100- Emgo's win! ....

If your bike still has the stock airbox do yourself a HUGE favor and leave the airbox on. I can't tell you how many horror stories I've read on the internet about $hitty running bikes after a pods install.. unless you have a dyno in your garage and about 20 hours of tuning time available pass on pods !

I have a set of K&N's on my Z1, they're about 30 years old. Ya think I should update them or they good to go? Says "oil type" on the end cap.
Nah. The 30 years of caked on dirt is what's keeping the mice out of your carbs... :laugh:
