Those look like Emgo, although it doesn't list any brand names. I used similar ones on a cb 360. They were good quality and definately flowed more air than the stock airbox without a filter...but not as much as a K&N. You know a filter is flowing more air when your mixture goes lean! Also K&N's are indefinately cleanable and guaranteed. Emgo's cost $37 for 4- k&n's about $100- Emgo's win! Buy a set of K&N's off some cb 750 guy at the swap meet cuz he can't get 'em to work on those shitty keihins.

The no-name pods are OK, but just be sure not to let them dry out or get wet, as some of them are made from paper medium, and I've seen rotting pieces get sucked into engines.

They are very easily affected by side draft and other phenomenon that makes for lean conditions.

Jet with care.

Uh, explain please. I don't believe the Emgo filters will last as long as the K&Ns - not even sure if the cheapies can be cleaned & reused. It doesn't really matter to me, though, since I prefer the stock airbox.

I have these and they are just like k&n, same cloth material and good quality, but much cheaper. And APE advertises here too.

If your bike still has the stock airbox do yourself a HUGE favor and leave the airbox on. I can't tell you how many horror stories I've read on the internet about $hitty running bikes after a pods install.. unless you have a dyno in your garage and about 20 hours of tuning time available pass on pods !

I have a set of K&N's on my Z1, they're about 30 years old. Ya think I should update them or they good to go? Says "oil type" on the end cap.

Nah. The 30 years of caked on dirt is what's keeping the mice out of your carbs...

I've found if you got CV type carbs the swap to pods is not as drastic and is a definite performance improvement. Slide type carbs? Get ready for big time spark plug choppin' and carb pullin', jet changin', needle clip movin' mayhem. Is it worth the trouble? I don't know yet. Still involved in all that mayhem and I ain't even got it to run clean yet.
