valve lash, need help! 79 kz650 c3. was created by 4rugrat1
i just took the valve lash from my 1979 kz650 c3, its
cyllinder #
1-exhaust.0045
intake.007
2-exhaust.0025
intake.003
3-exhaust.004
intake.004
4-exhaust.003
intake.004

is this a normal reading? or should i do some shimming to them? it seems like my bike has gone sluggish and has a stumble between 5-6k rpm. any help is greatly appreciated!!

cyllinder 1&4 are running significantly leaner than 2&3, any help about this would be appreciated also!

With those gaps, I would say your problem is not valve lash, and more like carb cleaning/tuning/etc.

You might want to try swapping the #1 intake shim with the #2 exhaust shim to see if they come closer to spec.

my carbs are cleaned i cleaned them good a first time, then doubted my work and went at it again making sure that i had everything SPOTLESS. i have an dyna s and green coils, timing is dead on. but cylinder 1&4 run leaner still. i was looking at my cam chain, and the arrows on the 26th pin apart from eachother, but at tdc, the two arrows do not line up, could this be causing a problem like that? or should i not worry about it? should i move the cam one tooth so that the arrows line up? i also forgot to mention that my compression is vary good, and is not off from eachother much at all.
