Looks like I need a head was created by jydog

I was hoping this was repairable but I dont think it will be.

Anyone know where I can get a good head for a 1100 j motor?
Could I put a 83-84 gpz1100 head on it if I could find one?
How much should I expect to pay for just a bare 81+ head?

you can put 83/84 GPZ head on but you need custom pistons to work with the 'BATH TUB' style head and 17mm piston pins. best bet to find "J" model head check ebay or craigslist i sold all of the ones i had. and by the way that head can be fixed but cheaper to find a good used replacement.

Doing some research, I noticed that heads can run between $250 and $800 depending on the state of reconditioning or just an old used "J" head. That head is "toast" The only thing it is worth is scrap aluminum.

Since you also swallowed both valves, I would check those cam lobes to make sure they are not galled. If they are, you will also have to replace the cams. If those two look the same as all the others than they should be fine.

Wooohhh--- Just called them for an estimate. STARTING PRICE. $650 to fill and re-machine one chamber on a "J" series head. If he had a 83/84 Zx1100 head, I would say it might be worth it but not on a standard "J" head. Because this still will not include a valve job for the other three cylinders and the price of the new valves and what ever els they decide to find. By the time he is finished he will be around a grand to have it fixed.
