Where does the Clutch cable run??? was created by peachc
I have been trying to get the clutch cable back on my KZ750 today and for the life of me cannot figure out how it runs back to the clutch release. Every way I run it, it seems that it has too much slack at the bottom of the frame and it just bows out, which doesn't keep the cable straight! So any advice would be great!

ha, no, there is definately a lot less slack than that. It seems like mine bunches up before the botton which causes the cable to snag.

Mine clips to the downtube between exhaust pipes #1 and #2 just about where they exit the cylinder head.
Kinda keeps it tidied up and out of the way.

Yeah.....what JR said.
Mine has a metal clip in same spot.....dunno if a wire-tie would work there or not. Them headpipes get a mite warm! A couple black hose clamps there might be a good "ghetto-tech" (read: CHEAP!!) work-around....one above the middle adjuster and one below.....just a thought.

ah, okay. I have the clips still, so that isn't a problem, atleast I got something right. So when you run the cable from the handle, where does it feed through is my last problem? I have it going right by the headlight mounts and down, but I am not sure if that is too tight.

Running the cable to keep it from binding and getting it against the exhaust headers are all that really matters. Just be sure to swing the handlebars through the full range of motion before you go for a ride. Sometimes after putting on an extended cable (longer bars) or short bars (making the stock cable too long) there will be a loop that I run slightly above the bars for excess length. Looks like ass but keeps it away from hot pipes and doesn't bind.

I just took a look at mine. To dark for a photo. From the handlebar clutch lever the cable runs behind the speedo and down behind the headlight - it is a tight fit in there. From there it pretty much follows the frame downtube as described above. Hope that helps.
indykaw 77 - I love that phrase "ghetto tech"
