Quick Question on Compression Tests was created by Link14
Well, I finally got the engine timed and shimmed on the 900 and will be putting the cam cover on tomorrow. I'd like to do a compression test without the carbs or exhaust attached. I can't see any issues with doing that, but I thought I'd check.

Thanks for the help.

It will work just fine. B)

And won't have to worry about holding the throttle wide open while testing.

Good Fortune! :)

The best time to check compression is when the carbs are off the bike, since you won't have to fiddle w the throttle. Exhaust on or exhaust off doesn't matter, since either way the exhaust ports are open to atmosphere.
