i am thinking about getting an APE tensioner. but am wondering how you get the right amount of tension without over tightening it. this might be simple but i have no info on how to do this. so please help me if you can. thanks.

They have instructions with them that are pretty clear. However, I just installed one and the way I did it was take the cam cover and ignition cover off, rotate the crank until the bike was at TDC,remove the old tensioner, install the new APE one tighten it down as tight as I could get it WITH MY FINGERS,then rotated the crank 3x checking the cam chain tension, valve positions and timing mark each time and adjusting if necessary, then tightening the lock bolt.Bike fired right up,no valve rattle or chain slap and runs like a top.Little extra work, but worth it IMO.bj

the auto tensioner on the bike now is starting to go bad. it sounds like pop tabs rattling around inside the engine
