Cam cover gasket. was created by bhardy501
Hey guys, My KZ1000 is leaking a little oil around the cam cover gasket. Is this a fairly easy change or is it a major job to change that gasket out?

Easy job, pull the tank, and coils(make a diagram as to where the primary wires go).

Scrape the old gasket off using a sharp piece of Lexan or Plexiglass.Wipe the sealing surfaces with lacquer thinner and let dry.

Try not to drop any old gasket inside the cam areas. The rubbber cam plugs should be replaced too as they shrink from heat and age.

Thanks. Does the cam cover ends come with a gasket as a set or do you have to get them seperate?

I'd check with www.z1enterprises.com for new cam plugs and valve/cam cover gasket.

When I had my 1977 Kz1000, the cam plugs and cam cover were seperate items.
