Engine / Transmission Oil Leak was created by ed spangler
Hello Good Morning.
I have a 75 Z1-B
Had polished Front Sprocket Side Cover Off for replacing front drive sprocket, noticed oil leaking from where gear selector shaft exits the "Mission Cover" on that side of engine / transmission as Kaw calls it on parts diagram
( What a name?!), Anyway, I have ordered the 3 seals that go on gear selector shaft, 2 in the outer polished cover , one inside the "Mission Cover" ( All 3 are the same seal according to Kaw), the Mission cover gasket and the output front sprocket /drive shaft seal that is in mission cover... I think that should cover parts ??( Not 100% sure, never had this off before!!??) Anyone had this "Mission Cover" off before? Anything to watch out for? Or special tips on removal or re-installation? Did I miss any seals or gaskets?? that i need to order in addition to what i have already ordered?
Thanks!!

Use a piece of sharpened plastic like Plexiglass or Lexan to remove any old gasket, this way the soft Aluminum cover won't be gouged and possibly leak.

Thanks
Will keep that in mind, Normally after I remove something like the "Mission Cover" I will wash it in the parts washer to remove excess grease, dry with air and then bead blast and rewash to remove bead balsting material, redry with air
apply thin film of grease to new gasket and reapply cover.
After of course installing new seals. I saw 3 seals for Selector shaft ,one seal for output sprocket shaft and one gasket for mission cover, hopefully that covers the materials.
Thanks Again
ED
