For the best responses, please add your year, model number, and location to your signature... and yes it's considered real friendly too.

Best of success, :)

As Bill suggested, we need more information...besides the info about your bike, you didn't mention what you currently have installed and what you are replacing it with.

it's a '79 KZ1000 and it's got what I think is either a Kerker or a mac exhaust. replacing it with what looks like a stock exhaust.

Describe your air intake system...stock or not? If not, do you have the stock? What carbs do you have?

Edit...found your other thread...which answered many questions. The pipes on the bike appear to be Kerkers...if the bike was running well and you kept your 28 pumpers with individual filters, then it was most certainly rejetted. So, expect to rejet when you go back to 4into2's. BTW, those replacement pipes are LTD pipes and not original either.

If you have your original header gaskets, they are made of a copper alloy and as such, can be annealed and reused. Heat them to red hot with a torch and drop them into water. However, I always found it easier to slip in a new set (they are not that expensive). All other exhaust holders/washers/nuts can be reused. You will most likely have to fabricate some sort of hangers for the mufflers on each side.
