Reground Cam? Anybody was created by Motor Head
Any of you guy's had some Cams reground to a performance spec? Reputable regrinders info and cost would be nice, maybe an exchange program where they exchange cores for Cams that are done, cuts down on waiting.

I have had two sets of KZ1300 cams hard welded and re-ground by Web-Cam. Re-grinds are usually about 50% more expensive than new high performance cams and make sense if there is nothing available for your application. re-grinds are also quite a bit more durable than new cams because of the hard-weld lobes.

Regrinds are for custom spec or where there are no longer cores available.

Megacycle & Web will hardweld and regrind. Like Otto said, it's expensive.

If it's for a 650KZ, I don't believe anyone has cores anymore so hard weld is the only option.

He didn't specify what bike but WEB-CAM still shows a good selection of 550, 650, and 750 cams in stock. I just presumed it was for his 1000 or 1100.

Just a inquiry at the moment as I gather info. Not a lot of manufactures making new cams for a lot of old motors/ cars as well. Regrinding used to be pretty cheap for some cams, but it would cut the base circle down, and make the cam ramps steeper, unless spending the bucks for hard welding, it would depend on the grind wanted. seems like a billion years ago now, but one of the performance shops I worked at in the 80's used to carry a reground line, along With Norris.
