Wrong spark plugs? was created by polkat
Went to buy new plugs for my 1982 KZ750H3 today. The manual calls for NGK BR8ES plugs, but the dealer sold me BR9HS plugs and said they would work fine. Will they? Doesn't seem right.

They are a step colder heat range, do you have a high compression motor or stock? Stock, then stock plugs, B8ES, 2.50 ea at Z1. Dealer should know this is the wrong plug, it will build up residue and try to foul if your jetting is of even a little.
Oh and those are only 1/2" reach/ length, you need 3/4"
Find B8ES, or many other plugs from many different manufactures, take those others back.

Just go to your local auto store, part source, napa, anywhere. I've never had a problem finding the plugs at regular places.

I've used Denso W24-ESU or NGK B8ES sparkplugs in my bike for many years with no problems.

Well...heh...the dealer apologized for his stupidity (although, of course, he didn't admit that) and gave me the right plugs (BR8ES). So I'm covered. Thanks all.

NO. They are colder than B8ES and B8ES are already very cold plugs. The 750 twins run B6ES which are two steps hotter than B8ES.Went to buy new plugs for my 1982 KZ750H3 today.
