Will a motor have compression with a blown head gasket?

Depends where the "blow" is but my $0.02 worth is that YES, extremely likely.

The only times I have seen zero compression on a motor are when the piston was either gone or had a big hole in it, or the head was broken off a valve (and that usually punches a hole in the piston).

You certainly could lose compression through a
blown head gasket.

Is this a rhetorical question or is there some earthly or ethereal context?
