What does it need to be finished.

I've got a KZ1000 'J' motor that is ready to go back together as soon
as I get two valves and some guide seals ordered and in. It's got new
OS pistons and rings and a nice tight clearance bore.

It's for a project bike but I'd prefer a KZ motor because with the four
rigid mounts it gives me more options in how I assemble the frame. Plus
I like a kickstart and no battery or starter for weight savings.

I was going to go with a big block. It needs cams, timing chain( cuz i don't know how old or how hard this one was used) the timing wheels and all the goodies that goes with it. I was going to use the stator and try and use the output shaft in the 1100, Because the 1100 is a shafty. I have a J model trans for the 900, but no shafts.

unless you have extra parts that i need. then i'll leave it alone, and sell you the 900 less the head.

About all I have here that's useable on the 900 is GS1000 head and camshafts.
I'll have to count the teeth but I think it's gonna require a big sprocket
on the 900 crank. Doesn't sound like I'd be able to get something going
around that without the same $ you were gonna need ;-)

Hey, do you have a link to a hi res copy of that double breasted bumper polisher
in your avatar? Would make for nice wallpaper...

The only reason i said without the head is because i have a bit of money into it and will be selling it by itself. It is ported and polished. Over sized intake and exhuast valves which are new. The intake valves are S.S. New valve guides and seals. APE .500 valve springs. Under bucket shim, and .020 was milled off the face of the head.

If the crank has a 16 tooth roller style sprocket my GS1000 head will bolt
on. I'm wondering what else it needs to be running and ready to bolt up to
a bike. Pistons, rings, jugs in good shape? Rod big end-crank journals in
good shape? Bottom end complete with covers and in good shape? Clutch in
good shape? I don't care if it has a drive sprocket or starter so long as
the kick start is there?

it needed new rings, timing stuff. As far the the lower end i haven't taken it apart yet. I have no idea what i can and can't use from the 900 to the 1100 yet because its not here. I don't want to tell you its all there and sell it, and then turn a round and need to buy some parts that i need when i already had them. I know that i am going to need the stator and the stater w/clutch for the 1100, the dyna igntion. Still trying to find an output shaft and covers the 1100 also. If you have these parts maybe we could work something out.

Sorry. I don't have any bottom end parts.
Was looking at a kz900 clutch basket for my 'J' motor today.

Don't worry about the 900. This 'J' is almost done and I can
make it work with a couple of extra frame tubes.

I have the motor in the frame and to be honest it fits better then the old 900 did. I used all the 900's mounting plates, i just have to make up the bottom mount in the front. Thanks Duck for the pictures. I may need some more of that bottom mount with some more measurements.

Really - that _is_ an interesting idea.

(...judging by that photo on the left, the jugs are gonna be a *tight fit*... )

Like i said it a very nice fit! There is lots of room you have to remove some of the old 900 frame mounts, then if slips in so nice. A lot easier than removing the 900 motor from the frame.
