clutch plates sticking together was created by wes_scooter
after a few days of sitting, the kz900 that i brought back to life after 20 years has clutch plates that stick together and when i try to put it into gear it stalls it. i go through the oil fill plug hole and free up the inside 3 plates and it works after that. will that sticking go away with some use or will i have to diss assemble it and repair the clutch.

Could perform clutch pushrod adjustment
Perhaps gap is too large, so that clutch isn't fully disengaging when handlebar clutch lever is squeezed.

Good Fortune! :)

It is very likely that you have an old stile Barnett Cork clutch. That is exactly what they did if thy sat for more than a few days. I had the same problem on my Z1R when I installed a Barnett clutch way back when. The only thing that could be done is to replace it with a NON- Cork clutch, which is any clutch made today or an OEM clutch that you can find on eBay.
