Haha will do. If it weren't for my current build, theres a guy on 750turbo.com who's selling a set. He's in england, but the shipping wouldn't be too too bad. You could get them for about $100 shipped I'd imagine.

I've tried to sign up over there a couple of times and for some reason I never get the confirmation email. Oh well...I'm sure when I have approval for the project (who knows when that will be) I'll be able to come up with something...

Do it the easy way, spend $2500 or so for a 750 Turbo and scare yourself silly, it's fun! :D

Or, if you really want a cool project, my nephew has a 650 (77 I believe, SBJones for anyone that remembers) with GSXR 1000 usd forks, swingarm (monoshock) and wheels, and a good 750 Turbo motor without the turbo or throttle bodies. Make a heck of a combination for someone, since he's never going to get around to it.

For contact info PM me on 750turbo.com, or here but I don't stop in here very often.

Now where's the fun in all that! I agree, that's probably the most cost effective way to do it....but that throws the creative process out the window :silly:

Good to see you Steve! You know the easy way isn't popular around these parts haha. Plus for me to find a 750 turbo I'd have to go pretty far afield I'd imagine.

As Steell the easy way is just buy a GPz 750 turbo and swap the engine, that way at least you'll have a running turbo bike you can then work up from.

The hard way to serious power could be damn expensive. Exhaust manifolds, plenum chambers, Turbo, Rods, Pistons, Lock-up clutch, fuelling, oil scavenging. Its not easy at all.

On a more basic budget you could prob do it using standard rods and pistons. just limit boost to no more than 10psi. will get ya about 100-110bhp max, then you could also use stock clutch with heavy springs etc. Mount turbo as high as possible (above oil level) then use gravity to drain oil back to sump instead of using a scavenge pump system. Use BS34 carbs and pressurise the float bowls to get some sort of basic fuelling. Pick up a turbo off ebay such as a Garrett T20 for not much money but you would still have to make up a suitable manifold/headers for it.
It would work but be quite limited.

Using the GPz engine as a base is so much better. Kawasaki made a lot of subtle improvements to it to make it work well as a turbo engine.
There are bikes on the 750 turbo forum putting out close to 280hp at the tyre using standard rods, crank and cases.

1991, Zephyr 750. GPz750 turbo engine, 810cc, Garrett T25 turbo, GPz1100 throttle bodies, 310cc injectors, Power commander, Dyna coils, Lots more as well...

KB Saturn fitted with a stock GPz750 turbo engine. Loads to do on this project.

No disagreement here. I'm just interested in a couple of things this process doesn't provide:
1. Learning opportunity
2. The DIY factor (or is that the idiot factor?)

Anyways, good points all around!

Yeah for me theres doing it, and doing it well. I wouldn't go about it unless I was confident I could do it properly. And since the turbo shared a common crank and cams with a 650(and 50 and zephyr), and common cylinders with a KZ750, I can't see the rest of the engine being that much more stout. As long as it was built with good components like any build, it would be good to go.
