I am having to remember back about 2.5 yrs on this, but I think the following is a description of the flywheel puller.
The flywheel has some threads in its central hole. The puller is like 2 tubes, one threaded inside the other. The outer tube has threads on the end that thread into the flywheel. The inner tube is turned, pressing against the end of the crankshaft, and drawing the outer tube, and flywheel with it.
my 2 cents. I am no guru, but I do not see how the top triple tree nut could work as a substitute for this puller. Maybe they changed the design from the earlier bikes.
No offense or argument intended.:woohoo:
Once again this works for the early motors not sure about the J motor.
The large Bolt on the triple tree will thread into the rotor. The manual says to drop a large ball bearing into the hole and will sit on the crank snout as the screw threads in it bottoms out on the bearing and pulls the rotor.
This is a factory design and is mentioned in one of my manuals. It works like a charm. Sounds to easy I know but those Japs can be pretty smart engineers sometimes.

Timothy, I must respectfully disagree with what Timebomb posted below about "the noise you are hearing is most likely the carbs being out of sync". I base this on the fact that I heard your bike in the video making the same noise mine did when it had the loose 'starter clutch to rotor' bolts. I would it bet it mainly does it at idle, and it may sound funny when it is cranking. I do not think that a rattle from the shifter side of the bike would be caused by carb sync issues.
Also, forget what I wrote earlier about having to remove the footpeg, and the shifter. That is for pulling the cover for the final drive sprocket.
