So I got a drip on the left side of the bike(if your sitting on it). It looks to be coming out of the bottom of the stator cover(not sure if thats what its called) where the wires go into it. Is there something missing there? If not then do I have a problem if oil is leaking there. Thanks.

Go to www.z1enterprises.com and order a new grommet for the alternator stator. It's a common low pressure leak that developes after a few years of hot oil exposure.

The repair might envolve opening the stator cover, cutting the three yellow wires, running them through the new grommet and puttting new ends to mate with the bullet connectors under the sprocket cover.

www.easternbeaver.com sells new wire ends.

A scary thought crosses your mind when seeing vital engine oil on the ground, but it's no big thing.

The J model engine have roller bearing crankshafts needing low pressure oiling. My 82 GPz1100 B2 shop manual has oil pressure specs of 2.8 to 3.0 PSI, so it's not like the engine will seize due to a small oil leak/drip.

Probably a good idea to order a new alternator gasket as the old ones tend to break/tear on removal. The sprocket cover will need to come off(4 bolts),the starter motor cover removed(2 bolts), and the shifter lever removed from the shaft(1 bolt, I use a flat blade screwdriver and hammer to open up the shift lever so it can come off the shaft.
