kz1000 shift fork spring ?????/ was created by trab
Hi, guys just wondering why are there 2 types of kz1000 shift fork springs, some have 3 coils and some 4 coils do they interchange? I would think theres got to be a reason
for 2 different types of springs, I'm having shifting problems and was wondering could be the issue.....Thanks........Trab

it could be the problem the reason they went to the 4 coils was the 3 coil spring could weaken fairly quickly. and they do interchange

They DO NOT interchange.

If you install a 4 coil spring in the earlier Z1/KZ900 engines it WILL bind and you will not be able to shift.

If you install the 3 coil spring in the later bikes it might work, but the spring will be able to move around and you may have issues.

I have broken the 3-coil spring in the past - they do fail. But replace a 3-coil spring with a 3-coil spring.
