Intake clearance was created by sbulla
I know I'm probably getting a bit anal here but, which is better for an intake valve clearance .102mm or .152mm?

Numbers 2,3,4 all check at .127mm but number 1, with a 270 shim is .102mm and, with a 265 shim is .152mm.

I'd sure like to get them all the same. Wish they made a 267.5 shim. ;-)

"I know I'm probably getting a bit anal here"... Hey that's my title... You have no idea how anal I get... Ask Larry & Plumm...

Due to performance build (compressions, cams and head) & heat, here's what I was taught...

Intakes @ .05 to .10mm
Exhaust @ .10 to .15mm

Due to heat, the exhaust clearance will shrink on you. Set between .1 - .15mm and shortly within running, she'll drop around the .10mm clearnace...;)

The intake will hold fairly steady so better at the lower clearance ~.10mm...

Because the gaps will not get bigger but will get smaller in time, when in doubt I always go with the next size larger shim. The only side effects will be that you will have .05mm less lift and the valves might "hiss' a bit more. But it is true, on the exhaust you do want to go bigger on the intakes it will not be that critical. If you have under-bucket shims than definitely go with the larger gap. It is a lot of work to go threw to change them again.

I'd never leave one at minimum clearance. A shade wide is no problem, too tight can burn a valve and ruin the valve seat. On mine, spec is .05 - .10 so I would think .102 would be OK but .15 is probably better.
