Backlash in transmission was created by gutter
I was in the process of replacing my chain when I noticed that if I have 1st gear engaged, the primary drive sprocket has about a chain link worth of rotation in it.
How much is there suppose to be, if any?
Thanks!!

I'm sure that depends on the particular model you have, but what you have seems excessive.
For J - model (1000 cc)the standard backlash as measured at the primary to clutch gear interface is 0.03 - 0.10 mm. Max limit is 0.14 mm.
