How much oil does this thing require?

Ok I know...such a Noobious question. But how much do the KZ1000J's take? I have four quarts but not sure how many to feed the ol gal.

it should say the capacity on or near the filler cap, mine takes 3.8L, I beleive that's 4.2 quarts, do not just dump four quarts in the thing, these bikes hide oil and you will end up overfilling the crank case. I would add three quarts, put it on the centerstand and check your sight glass. :lol:

And it should fill the sight glass halfway? Or all the way up? Sorry man, I really am new to bikes lol.

Just use the sight glass and keep it between the lines (middle of glass is safe). On the centre stand of course.

ARite thanks about to go change her up now. Oh, Tek, the carbs were just clogged up, cleaned em up and shes running great now. Thanks for all the advice

did you change the filter too???


it will need to turn over or run a second or two...then settle again if you did change the filter too...the window will drop some after it fills the 1/4-3/8 qt the filter chamber holds...much better to fill just shy of the level line on the window and run,,-top off the full window line,,,-repeat-....till looking just right...then ride it for a few park it and let it settle with bike level and on level ground for a 1/2 hr...too much is a drag and can spew out and take a drain even to get right...
