How bad is it to run in a stock bike and would it keep it from starting after running it for a very short time?

Why would you want to. It will not be any benefit to the engine at all. Otherwise it should run with no problem. Sort of like using a $250 bottle of 30 year old wine for cooking.
I used to run 100LL Av Gas in my bike when I used to get it for free but now at$4.64 why should I.

You could end up getting less power out of that high an octane, than you would a regular tank of 87.

if the bike is not running properly, it is not due to the octane level.

Race fuel is useless in stock compression engines designed to run on pump fuel. Race fuel does not make more hp, race fuel eliminates the possibility of detonation.

Thanks guys.. I feel kinda stupid, but I will be ok.. She was running when I got home A week ag. Ordered chain and sprockets and she set for, about 5 days.. After, the chain and sprockets and back together. The test ride.. Well, she won't start.. I liked the detonation theory. New plugs and some new gas and I will go from there.. Thanks again..

Good Morning Sir
I am curious if you have any advice for me on this:
I am working on my 75 Z1 900, At this time I am "ressurecting" it so to speak, Bike was in terrible shape ,so money being spent now is on functionality. I always have owned bikes with the purpose of riding, don't do show bikes.I am happy to share pics w/ you of what I started with ( as I did w/ Mccoid ) if you want.
Anyway, here in East Tennessee where I live, there are lots & lots of hills, I am wondering what kind of engine mods I could make to improve low end Torque, the goal is to cruise with reduced downshifting . Obviously I know I will have to, just want to reduce it some.
I am an old Drag racer ( Car ) so am familiar with the benefits of high flow / specialty cylinder heads on cars and cams that are designed for low end Torque when used in towing as in trucks etc.
In your experience what are some mods that can be made to my bike to improve low end torque without sacrificng reliability? I.e. are there differnt cylinder heads that I could use, different cams? are Any of these Kawasaki parts as opposed to aftermarket? Can they be sourced used ? ( trying to save $$ )
The engine is bone stock including factory points system ( for now ) except for aftermarket exhaust 4 into 2's & a K& N air filter in stock airbox..Probably have to fatten up the primary jets for the 4 nto 2 exhaust?
Thanks Otto!!

Is there any chance you had the tank off for any reason while working on the bike? Apparently, on the larger bikes, there is a connector under the tank that gets disconnected sometimes while taking the tank off and on.
