I have never adjusted valves before but I'm gonna learn hopefully.
I checked clearance and here is what I came up with

intake 1 2 3 4
.06 .06 .08 .08

exhaust .10 .05 .08

I left number 3 exhaust blank because I couldn't get .05 reading meaning it would not go in.I pulled the shim and it was a 270 I put in a 260 now I have a .13 reading would I need a 265? are all the other one's ok or do I need to adjust those?
I just bought a shim kit from Z1 and the 265 didn't come with it

your clearances are really a little tight on the .o6 and .05 which is .001 to .002 thousanths i have mine on my kz1000p set at .003 to .004 which is roughly .08 t0 .10 you are fine on those.the .13 is o.k. but you may hear it click more than the rest which i have been told is a good thing, you are within specs if you are .08 to .13

FSM says .05~.10mm clearance when cold.

Understanding is that up to .15mm is okay, with some tuners suggesting .10~.15mm as a better range.

Good Fortune! :)

this is how I ended up

intake 1-15 2-10 3-15 4-13
exhaust 1-10 2-15 3-13 4-13

when I got it back together I still had the miss that cause me to adjust the valves thinking that was the problem but it still had the miss ended up pulling the carbs again and blew out all the ports with cab cleaner no more miss and the bike runs really good, setting the valves helped a lot the bike has never ran like that since I bought it. Now on to the next bike :woohoo:
Thankz scubarod and patton for your help I never did valves on a kz always thought it was complicated but it was not bad at all
