Picked up some nice media that's made locally

This pic was taken inside the shop this afternoon. Out in the sunshine this really looks good.

Looks very nice. What media did they use to clean the parts?

what media?

Soda blast? ground glass? I know with sand and ground glass you have to wash,rinse&repeat many times to get the grit out of engine pieces, otherwise kiss the bearings and rings good bye.

That's 30/40 media made by a company in Carbondale Pa. They have any grit imaginable.

Here's the cases out in the sun, taken with my phone cam. So much glare the picture doesn't do it justice.

Have to admit, that must have been a hell of a lot easier then in my method of hand/drill buffing.... :blink: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

So what the heck is 30/40? what grit did u use Larry.
they must have turned out pritty good for u to post. i know that the camera doesnt allways show things the way we see them.

do you have to clear coat it? is it just the natural engine finish? again looks great

You can pick up glass bead at lots of places. Tractor Supply has it. Harbor Freight has the same stuff. You'll find it's good for cleaning but the surfaces are not brilliant.

As for longevity......that depends on the guy that owns the bike. Clean theengine with a good scrub brush when the bike is washed and it should hold up very well.

I wouldn't put clear on a motor. It's probably going to turn yellow over time or start chipping off.

It's not difficult to keep an engine looking good.
