High revving at stops was created by chrispysaki
Every time I come to a stop, the engine begins revving really high while the clutch is engaged and it seems like it would keep going up and up if I didn't let out the clutch a little to make it return to a normal idle.

It's an '80 kz750 w/pods, 4-1 pipes & gpz cams. I just put the new cams on this year, and so far it's running great except for that small problem.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

sounds like your idle is much too lean. Are these Keihin or Mikuni carbs?

Keihins. I checked the plugs and they are mildly lean. I would want to turn the idle screws in to make it richer, right?

Does adjusting the idle screw do anything to help, or have you run out of threads to lower it anymore? If idling really high and you are out of room for adjustment you may need to pull the carbs and mechanically synch them with the idle screw pushed in further (to give you more free play after synching) this may seem like a dumb answer, but it happened to me... After pulling the carbs i bench synched them with the idle screw all the way out... left me with no way to turn the idle down until I re-synched them... worth a shot. Vacuum leak could also do it perhaps.
