OIL FENCE Question was created by Forrest
Hey All, Anyone know the proper location of the oil fence on a KZ650? I thought I was being smart when replacing my oil filter and placed it on top. This is the position on my ZRX1200 which takes the same filter and almost everything else looks identical. Does the fence go on the bottom or top of the filter? The manuals picture it on the bottom. I am thinking that I will be switching but wanted to hear from others. Please help me settle this dilemma.

Seriously asking, not being a smart ass here... Oil fence on the 650's? Assumption this is a screen of sorts...

NOTE: I have the KZ900 and in both 900/1000 service manuals, nothing about an oil fence...

Just curious...

Thanks,

I have my FSM here. It goes on teh very bottom, then the spring, then the washer, then the filter.

Part # 29.
Also don't forget to use the washer part # 27 under the filter too.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I will switch to the bottom. I also am not sure I ever had a washer, part# 27 when I bought the bike. It may have gotten stuck to the filter when changing out. I am picking up one each for my KZ and ZRX just in case that one is missing too. Glad I have not filled the bike up completely with oil and ridden it yet. Again, thanks for confirming.
