Dragbike remote starter? was created by gvsu141
Does anyone have a starter nut for a remote starter laying around or know where I can get a cheap one? I need the 22mm one for a z1 crank.
Also what set ups have people made for the actual starter itself? I don't have the money to dish out for a pre made one.

Here's a link to one from Schnitz Racing.
www.schnitzracingstore.com/catalogs/cata...25866&showprevnext=1
They show up on E-Bay fairly regular so keep an eye out for one on there but they generally go for about the price of a new one. If I'm not mistaken, you can melt the aluminum off the Z1 alternator rotor and what you have left is basically a starter nut. As for a starter, you can use just about any starter you want. Most use a big Chrysler starter or any gear-reduction starter. I have used ones off a mid-90's Dodge/Plymouth mini-van. Just find one in good shape. Take off the bendix and weld a 1 1/8 socket(I prefer the deep socket but some use regular socket...in 6-point style) onto the shaft. Some run starter as is where socket will jump out when button is hit but others modify the bendix drive by extending it and welding in out position so it doesn't jump out at hit of momentary button. To do that you have to take starter apart and modify it though.

Chrysler car starter, big block 383 or 440.
They have a gear reduction.
Nut 22M from the machine shop, a socket from Sears tool store.
A piece of aluminum plate.
A little welding and your good to go.
With 1, 12 volt car battery.
I never had over 12.5 compression.
