how to plug smog line caps was created by mjkawa
Im pullin off the hoses that go into the caps on the valve covers,(The smog, or recirculation or whatever they are)I assume the bike will run better without the hole system, and just to clean things up. and was wondering if any one had any cheap, clean and easy way to plug or cap the holes. Also to cap the two small nipples on the intake that actuated the valve?
Oh sorry, 79 650 sr.
Thanks

The simplest solution is a few vacuum caps from any auto parts supply. I used the largest ones I could find and jammed them into the inside of the ports on the injection covers. Not very clean but effective so far.

Tomorrow I'll take and post a pic of how I (re)did mine..the guy I bought the bike from had just split the ends of a piece of tubing that was too small to fit and slipped an end over each, but I decided that wasn't good enough, so I took some 1/2" copper street 90* elbows, ground out some of the female end, heated em up and hammered them down over the nipples and ran a tube between them..I wasn't sure if just capping em would be fine when I did mine, but since capping em seems to be fine, I'd just get some 1/2" copper pipe caps, grind a little out of em, heat em up and tap them down..this is just on the valve covers, I dunno about the intake part..I've got pods on my 550.

I also put vacuum plugs on mine. I found some that fit over the ports and it looks very clean. Fits very tight and has held up to the heat for a few years now. I just took one of the caps down to the auto parts store and found something that would fit. It fits like it was made for it. It is the same length and everything.
