KZ650 Main Bearing Bolts

Any source for upgraded bolts?

Not specifically for the KZ650. There may be some special order fasteners availalbe but they wouldn't be cheap.

Get a hold fo APE and ask them, if anyone new of upgraded bolts they would. They do carry the cylinder studs and nuts.

Unless they are damaged there realy isn't a need to upgrade them.... or are you doing something crazy to the motor?

No, nothing crazy, but I like to replace every fastener. I'll re-use them if I have to. As Carroll Smith used to say, the test for whether you can re-use a bolt is as follows:

Throw it in a bucket of water, if it floats, re-use it.

I am with you on that one. When I did my 650 I left no stone unturned, all the fasteners I could replace I did, but not the case bolts for the mains. Just clean them up and assemble with oil. Every single o-ring and seal can still be had for that engine, it gets pricy when you add them up. I still didn't hesitate.

Yeah, I'm replacing pretty much everything. O-rings are cheap enough, seals not so much.

If you find something...let us know! I think Carillo does upgraded bolts to go with their two-piece knife rods (which I believe APEJay stated would be custom order for a 650), but I haven't seen anything about main bearing bolts. Maybe APE or LarryCav know?
