K, my 1979 KZ650 is going through a bout of oil expulsion, if i get on it a bit (and who doesn't) it blows oil out the vent for the crankcase, at a pretty serious amount. Now when i got it, the emission equipment had been modified, the bike had pods and the gulp valve was still attached, with a long hose off it that had a bit of filter element stuffed in it. Not knowing what kind of jury rigged stuff the p.o. had going on, i pitched the gulp valve, ran a piece of hose between the breathers on the valve cover and called it good, now i am wondering if any of this modification is causing my problem, or is the crankcase just overfull and blowing wherever it needs to to relieve itself. I ran out on the freeway today, running with traffic (about 90 or so) and had a nice mist of oil all over the pipe, rear tire and even the seat, not to mention the rear suspension. So am i looking at blowby, or what? Sorry for the long post, just got off a 10 hour shift and running on autopilot. 2006hhr

Are you filling the oil up to a point between the 2 lines on the oil window with the bike on its centerstand? Ed

K had some dinner and got a chance to unwind. It is overfilled, so going to change oil and filter this weekend anyway. Just surprised me with the Exxon Valdez imitation. Most days i am riding in town so not much high end antics. On a good note, the mystery pipe (see kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...ew&catid=2&id=351674 looks, sounds and performs very well.

While you're at it, after changing the oil & oil filter.... check the oil pressure as well....
Have you confirmed oil is getting up top?

if it's overfilled it may be due to bad needles and seats in your carbs give the oil the smell test see if there is gas in it oil can't multiply by it self so unless your adding too much oil my guess would be its filling up with gas,
