Cam cap bolt stripped!

Putting the cams back in my 750-4 and one of the cap bolts wouldn't tighten (didn't go beyond torque spec). Needles to say, it came back out of the head with aluminum stuck in it's threads.

Can I heli coil this? And what size would I be looking for? Thanks!

yes you can heli coil it 6x 1mm is the one your looking for not a big deal happens all the time i just stripped 2 today my self. and it took me less then 10 mins to fix including finding my dam helicoils in the first place alot of people on here prefer timeserts but unless you have a kit already they are expensive. helicoils if done properly will have no problem living as long as the bike they are being installed into.

I just did one of mine last week, worked really well.

You can also buy a stepped stud, it will be 6X1.0mm at the 1 end and probably 8X1.25mm at the other. Then a drill bit and tap, might be cheaper than a heli-coil set.
