Clutch cable? 550 LTD

Any info on replacing clutch cable on 1982 550LTD appreciated. Does it go into the motor or can it be disconnected from the outside? Thanks

You'll need to remove the left side engine sprocket/chain cover - no big deal. Doing so typically requires the removal of a footpeg, the toe shifter & the starter cover. A manual would be helpful.
