NEW ZDDP additive from Lucas Oil

Lucas must have heard our plea. They just recently released a new additive with ZDDP. One bottle will raise 5 quarts of oil to 5000 PM.

I just bought some of this for my 501ci Ford. It sure has a foul smell. That must mean it's working.

ZDDPlus will do the same thing and it's more concentrated so it doesn't displace as much oil.

Actually it is not more concentrated if you read the results and it is A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE. One of these bottles will treat three times what ZDDP+ will treat in the same PPM. I have used ZDDP+ and RED LINE which is also an Excellent product and better than ZDDP+.

So should I stick this in when I'm breaking in my engine? I'll have to go on a search for some. I figured assembly lube would be all I'd need.

Absolutely not- assembly lube is not all you will require. Because ZDDP is required in all solid lifter vehicles and definitely all vehicles prior to 1996. The oil companies have removed ZDDP from all automotive oils. It is now only in some but not all the expensive Motorcycle oils and Diesel truck oils. It is also in many of the Expensive racing oils. In our bikes we should be running in access of 1200PPM of ZDDP at all times. For initial brake-in it should be double that. If you don't you could wipe out your cams, buckets and shims. This subject has been covered on this websight before, so I am not going that much into it. It has been determined in previous posts that Shell Rotella amongst a couple of other oils are still providing some ZDDP protection. I have switched to Rotella plus use the ZDDP additive. i believe that Harley Davidson woids all warranty's if you do not run oil with ZDDP. I used "ZDDPPlus" but it is outrageously expensive for what they give you. I than switched to "Red Line engine brake-in additive because it is more concentrated and much cheaper. Now I just found this Lucas product which is twice as concentrated as Red Line but Cheaper yet.

So you use this stuff in all of your oil changes? And during break in?

Yes definitely to both of your questions. I have been using the Red-Line up to now.

Since I run "Shell Rotella" I will only add 2oz to every 4 quarts of oil. This will raise the already present ZDDP quantity by about 850 ppm. This will put the oil in the case at about 2000+PPM. when you consider that 4oz of ZDDPPlus@ costs $8+ at a lower concentration, it is a no-brainer.
