I got the new pistons on the rods this morning. They are MTC 1075cc 10.5:1 pistons that I bought from Pit Stop.

I'm jelous! I'm also curious. How much are you spending to get the block bored? Looks good. I can't wait to get to the motor building stage on my bike.

Joe charges $125 to punch the 4 holes. Unfortunately he just had to raise his prices. Not to long ago he was charging only $100. I send all of my stuff to him, because here in the Chicago area about the cheapest you will find is $60 a hole. The last ones he did for me were my GPz1150.

Please excuse my ignorance. Is Joe at Pit Stop? Do you have contact info for Pit Stop? Congrats on Bike of the Month. Looks good. Btw what's the coating on the pistons?

Yes, Joe Hooper is the owner of Pitstop Performance Orlando FL. The coating I do and it is a Ceramic crown with Molly skirt. The Ceramic is both a tremendous heat barrier and also prevents anything from sticking to the crowns. As you run your bike, carbon sticks to the crowns and unbalances the pistons, and also causes detonation and pre-ignition.. This prevents that from happening. Also it prevents oil from burning onto the underside of the dome because it lowers the temperature. The molly tightens up the bore and lowers skirt ware.

Can you tell us how much was the total cost of the piston kit from Pit Stop and are they for a standard 650 albeit bored out .

Neither one of these kits is for a 650 one is for a 1000 (1015) and the other is for an 1100 (1089). These are both MTC pistons and MTC does not make pistons for a 650. You would have to get Wiseco pistons for a 650.
