Gs vs KZ

The knight rider wants to know-Does the gs1100 header bolt up to a kz motor? I know mounting will be different but to the head?

Seriously does the GS header work on a kz. I have a chance to get a header off a gs for cheap if it will work.

carb spacing and header spacing is the same up to 82 i think

it should be close but i think the bends will be off a bit. u would need to try it on for size, unless someone here has already tried?

no not a match....like mark said you could try it .....and maybe tweek it to comply.....but it is not gonna line up...whats cheap?????what brand...condition ect......

my buddy had a header that came with his 77 kz1000 when we bought it. The header bolted up alright, but the PO tweaked the flanges a little to get them to slide over the exhaust studs correctly. It fit and worked fine except where the header starts to curve back to the rear of the bike, it wasnt at enough of an angle and pointed further downward than it should have. This made it very hard to put a pipe on it, and there was an ugly gap between the bottom frame rails and the pipe. It scraped really bad also. We pulled it off and tried it on a buddy's gs1000. Fit perfectly, and looked great

I believe that the GS and the KZ had a different angle to the cylinders. This changes the geometry to the bend between the header pipes and the collector. I know that the 16 valve GS1100 head had a different spacing than the GS1000 but I do not know if any of them had the same spacing as the KZ1000.

I took a pipe off a 76 Kaw 900 that had a big ( ugly ) gap under the engine where the collector is....fit onto a GS 1000 engine but without the gap....

Well that at least confirms what I stated previously. So I know that the GS1100 pipe will not fit The spacing was different from the GS1000
