1980 KZ750 H

Is the 1980 KZ750E and 1980 KZ750H the same bike? Only the LTD is the KZ750H right :so the engines should be identical? Just wondering I might have a chance at buying one and was making sure I could use the engine parts.

Thank You

You could try comparing part numbers on the kawasaki site, but I'd be guessing they are the same basic engine. May be some cam or carb differences.
This post describes how to find and use the diagrams:

The KZ750E was referred to as the KZ750 Standard, which was the "sportier" one. The KZ750H is the LTD.

Engine/Frame-wise they're the same. Main differences are gas tank capacity (E has a bigger tank) and chassis geometry.

source: KZ750 Service Manual. Was looking at it a couple of days ago.

The parts are close to the same. In typical kawasaki tradition if you compare the two models you'll find there are a lot of different part numbers. The cylinder, head ect carries a different part number. Probably mainly color differences and minor stuff like that. For sure the frames are different. A LTD frame has all different mount points for the bodywork ect. If you look at Kawasaki parts for the most part every frame is different. Even a 1980 KZ750E is different from a 1981. 1980 KZ750H is different and 1981 KZ750H is another change. Every one is made only one/two years at most and never the same frame used on a different model designation.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Ron is right regarding the part numbers.
However, you are probably in luck as I have a 1980 KZ750E engine in my 1981 KZ750H frame currently for the fun it. The engines are the same except for the black paint on the KZ750E engine.

He indicated that he's looking to use engine parts, which may not be quite the same thing as simply swapping engines between frames.
