1978 KZ 1000P

I'm trying to find a header for my 78 kz 1000p. Both Kerker and Mac say they don't sell one for my bike because of the frame style. Does anyone have any suggestions?:blink:

The problem are your footboards. All the common headers will fit if you get rid of the footboards. You may have to find an ingenious way to mount the mufler flange.

I attempted to find what ever pictures I could on the web of the bike to see why the headers wo'nt fit. The Kerker definately wont because it would hit the right saddle bag. The MAC however should fit fine, and the MAC 4-2 would fit definitly. If you do not have the saddle bags on the bike than the MAC 4-1 will fit without problem. If no part of the saddle bag goes below the lower shock mount while the bike is sitting on the side stand than the MAC 4-1 cannister stile header will work on your bike. The megaphone however will not, it comes up too high.

I probably forgot to mention that this bike does not look like a cop bike any more. The saddle bags are gone and so are the foot platforms. I thought they were talking about the design of the frame itself. Thank you for the info though,it was very helpful.

Than you should have no problem. If you post a picture of the right side of the bike it would help.
