good compression in all but number 2 cyclinder im thinking broken ring? could it be a bent or stuck valve?

You need to do a leak down test to see where to go. Cylinder at TDC, feed air pressure into the spark plug hole. Check where you hear air leaking out.

From carb = intake valve issue
From tailpipe = exhaust valve issue
From oil fill hole = ring issue

If either valve issue, make sure to check and double check valve clearance first. Go from there!
