Gasket availability? was created by polkat
Where is the best place, and the best prices, for gaskets and seals to rebuild a 750-four? When I go to the local stores (quite a distance from me) the prices seem to be three times those on websites. Is Z1 good? Thanks!

My experience is:
Z1
babbittsonline.com
Bike Bandit
Old Bike barn
You can save a lot by getting a rebuild gasket set, but the Athena set I got had bad gaskets that failed immediately. Maybe Vesrah is better, I will never use another athena gasket.
For critical gaskets like the cylinder base gasket and head gasket, you may want to grab your ankles and buy OEM (check ebay) just to be safe. They cost more but usually are better quality than aftermarket.

You can get gasket sets from many vendors...some folks swear by OEM gaskets, but you run the risk of buying gaskets that may be 25 years old (but still technically new)...however, if you purchase gaskets from a vendor that has a high turnover, the you might be getting gaskets that were recently produced. I buy Vesrah gaskets from Z1Enterprises.

cometic makes the best gaskets in my opinion next on my list is athena never had a problem with either, vesrah sometimes you can end up buying old kits that could cause problems. i personally like athena valve seals that is one of the main reasons i buy those kits.
