Valve spring compressor mods?

How have you guys modified standard valve spring compressors to fit on top of the spring retainer in 750-four heads (which are mostly surrounded by head material)? I was thinking about taking a 1" pvc junction, cutting the sides out (to get to the valve locks) and sticking that between the compressor and spring retainer. Other ideas?
