OK, another newbie quesion, but when I have really rich conditions in my car, my oil tends to get watered down (or gased down I should say) and if it's left too long I can wash out the cylinders and I end up loosing compression, doing damage, what have you...

now on a bike engine, does this also happen? If you've been running real rich and flooding it out does the oil get fuel contaminated and will this hurt compression?

Thanks again - I'm learn'n.

Does it also make it that much harder to get it started, just curious.

It could. Plugs could be fouled up or really really wet with unburnt fuel. Engine damage could have occurred already and there is little compression in the cylinder.

Ask in the carb forum for help on jetting and carb work, to correct rich fuel condition. Do a compression check on engine. If low put a teaspoon of oil down plug hole and try again. Compare results.

Here's a newbie realization for you....

I didn't know the kickstart wouldn't work with the clutch pulled in.

Changed the oil today (It was pretty nasty anyhow) and put in some new plugs.

I fiddled with the little adjustment knob on the carbs and in three kicks it started. Go figure. It is still running off-tune, but at least I'm getting somewhere. I thought my issues were electrical, but it really just seems like it's the carbs needing adjustments at this point.

OK, well I'm back off to the garage to do some more learn'n.

Hopefully it won't take long for the bike-rookie in me to wear off. B)
