I'm almost done rebuilding this 73 z1. I added in oil to see if the pan would seal and to check for leaks and well the pan isn't leaking, but oil is coming from somewhere behind this cover. I don't want to just take the bolt off without knowing what it is, it looks as if it has been adjusted many times. Maybe someone has had a similar leak

Thats the clutch release adjustment assy. There is a oring on the actuator rod behind the cover.I think this is the only place engine oil could come from. You have to remove the cover to access it.Only 4 bolts and you can leave your cable assy all hooked up.Easy

Ah, Yea I got to looking and the oil is definitely coming from where the actuator rod going into the transmission. Do they sell a replacement o-ring for it? I failed to find it on z1e

its actually a seal,i dont remember if you can change it easily from outside.if it isnt leaking too bad maybe try riding it a little and see if the seal swells back up after having some oil on it.

Ah.. it leaks enough.. probably a 4x4inch puddle each night. Don't want to waste that expensive supertech oil thats in it ya know . Good call on the swelling, we'll see if it does.

I'm pretty sure you can change that seal from the outside. Just remove the countershaft sprocket cover and you'll see it.
