Ok between the kz and the j model the rods on the kz are longer ...............question is by how much? how long is a kz rod and how long is a j rod and where do you measure from.

1976 kz900 in parts but will be going some day soon

I'd say my rod is the longest, but I know thats just a matter of personal prefference :woohoo:

Anyways... good question.

I'd check with Jeff @ Z1 ENTERPRISES , he is most knowledgable.

you normally measure center to center to get rod length, as far as which one,, got me.
I am guessing you are looking to get the longest dwell at TDC?

ask omr or plummen...either one has seen a lot of rods over the years.....why during one point in the seveties....i think....they saw just about every kind of rod there is .....big ones.....little ones......bent ones.....old ones......even a few custom rods........

they know a rod when they see one......

:woohoo: now thats funny i dont care who ya is! longer rod will keep piston at tdc longer,ive never been brave enough to tear a kaw crank apart to that extent myself B)

Changing to a '84 GPZ 1100 crank in MKll cases we took .034 off the deck of my block to allow for the shorter GPZ rod length vs.the KZ unit.

79 KZ 1075 MKll

j rods are 1 mm or .040" shorter
