Question fo Jeff @ Z1E was created by 650ed
Jeff,
Kawasaki.com database says standard KZ650 rings "Part #13008-059" are still "active." Is this true or just a mistake in the Kawasaki database? I ask because member "Scatdrat" and possibly others are trying to find stock rings. Ed

You can get rings from Hastings. They would be quite cheep. You can give them a call and they will set you up. They are 62mm 1.5mm 1.5mm 2.5mm The only thing that you will have to do is reuse your oil spacer ring because their smallest is a 2.8mm I call hastings and have the rings the next day. You even have a choice between Chrome Molly or standard Iron. #4807 or #2C4807

Thanks for the info otakar. B)
I think you've made a lot of 650 owners happy.

If anyone orders a set, let us know which ones you've ordered and how it works out.

I have a set in my 1150 (obviously a bit larger)I use the Chrome Molly ones you have to be more careful with them because they will deform if you are not. The Iron ones are more forgiving but if you stretch them too far they snap. for your bike they are $87 for the Chrome ones, which is what I would recommend. This is for a complete set to do all 4 pistons.

I looked them up and found that the standard is not available from Kawasaki (13001-1002) but the .040 is available. The rings last were $65 for one set = $260

I hope this isn't considered highjacking the thread but I also have a question for Jeff. I need to get 8 new circlips for my 650. I see that you have them for a KZ1000 but not for the 650. Or at least they aren't listed under the 650 motor. Are they the same??

P.s. thanks for the hastings info. I found a bunch of stuff for old tractors I restore that I couldn't find anywhere else.

13008-059 are the stock size rings for the earlier 650's - they are still available (at least as of December...). a little over $200 for enough for 4 pistons.

13001-1002 are the stock pistons - and they are discontinued.

92036-005 - these are the pin clips for the 650's - still available. These are different to the Z1/KZ1000 version.

Correct me if I'm wrong. You show your bike as a 1977 KZ650 C1. Kawasaki shows that as rings 13024-060 only available as .040 oversize in limited quantity.

My apologies. It is just the 77 page that is screwed up. When the later model pages are accessed than the proper #s pop up. in as much as the available 13008-059. Still, that price is a killer. The Hastings rings would still be my choice. If for no other reason than the price.

Not trying to hijack but I have a question for Jeff.

Seems like every time I place an order, I always forget something. Since I have two KZ's and a GS Its easy to forget something, maybe I should write things down better. :) With that being said a "wishlist" option on your web site sure would be handy for absent minded people like my self. Would it be feasable to add a function like this to your website or would it be more problems than its worth. Sometimes if I am not fast enough my shopping cart disappears and I have to go find every thing again and I always miss something. This is not a complaint just a question

The current web site software is going to be replaced later this year with a significant upgrade. 'Wishlist' is one major capability. The web site will also handle better pricing discount options for volume purchases. AND one we've been asked for a ton of times, the ability to order items currently out of stock (or get notified when they become available).

We've outgrown the current web site. When we setup the current version of the web site, we had 200-300 parts for sale. Now we have over 4,000 parts on the web site - and will likely have over 5,000 parts by the end of the year...

In addition to the wishlist, additional selection filters will be available to help refine searching thru page upon page of parts.

For example under brakes we'll have a series of pull down filters - with you able to select from one or all of them.
Select brake hose from a list of hose, fittings, pipe, etc
Select fitting type: Chrome, Stainless, Black Anodized
Select color: Clearcoat, Black, Red, Blue
Select length range: under 10", 11-20", 21"-30", etc
