For the record, Z's don't have a primary chain. The chain you are referring to is the cam chain. ;)

Err now I'm really confused.. as I'm still trying to completely figure out what model exact I have..
Well from what I can tell...

From OnkelB in another post, this is a KZ650-750 bottom end highlighting the primary chain.

Best of success, :)

I assume these gasket sets will fit "all" Z 750's?

www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=1862

www.z-power.co.uk/merchantmanager/produc...php?products_id=1377

I'm not sure what I have, but the Engine number starts KZ750E .. E1,2,3 I don't know but assume they have the same gaskets?..

Also does anyone know where if this might be the correct Primary chain still trying to find a Secondary Gear as the chain assumable has been slipping for quite some time and buggered everything...

www.z-power.co.uk/merchantmanager/produc....php?products_id=803

I've also asked this to the okes selling, but waiting response..

I started Yesterday and this is how far I got - removed Tank, covers, Airbox, Carbs, Rear Wheel, and almost ready to pull motor:

Hi all,

Finally got the motor out! :)

The motor is on a table - Exhaust port facing down. (I see on pictures that some of the okes do it the other way around, must this be like this?)

I've opened up the sump - I've checked the primary chain - it has a LOT of play laying down like this. Now this is where my questions come in - how much play is in "service specs" it currently has about more than 3cm play (1.18 inches)..

How do I check the correct "play" on the chain?

It is dark here in SA now, I will take pictures when the sun is out again and upload.

Thanks in advance,

Zollie

Not sure of the amount of play in the primary chain..While it is down it would be a good idea to check the rotor for the generator on the left side case. I have had them come loose and the rotor would smack the stator and make a very nasty noise that sounded like it was going to grenade.

My FSM says that the maximum play is 27 mm or 1.06 inch.

Looks as if you have maybe twice that amount.

Symptom: Stretched from use and or miss-use. :(

Corrective Action: Replace with new chain.

Best of success, :)
Bill

PS
Do you have a Repair Manual? This is a very good investment.
