Quick oil seal question... was created by KawasakiBob
I need to replace the clutch pushrod seal in my 82 1000J.
Someone mentioned that I need to split the cases to do this, is this true?
If not is there a trick to getting the new seal in properly?
I'm a grade Z mech so forgive my noobie-ish questions.

No, the actual clutch push rod that can be pulled in or out if you have the left side cover off exposing the countershaft sprocket.
The rod can be pulled out or pushed in but the seal around it is pretty trashed, and is (one of) the sources for my oil leaks.

I wouldn't think you should need to crack the case apart to do this job. Maybe someone with specific info on your bike will know though?

That's not a bug.
It's a feature!
It's your automatic chain oiler!

Cool but ty, I'll take a closer look in the morning and see if there is a snap ring.
